My work serves as a meditative exploration of both my environment and inner self. Over the past decade, the ocean and its coastlines have been the foundation of my creative work, immersing me in the search for beauty within darkness. Shaped by millions of years of coastal movement, the Tessellated Pavement’s intricate formations mirror the contrasts I grapple with—light and dark, creation and erosion—inviting both myself and the viewer to appreciate these opposing forces. Through this work, I aim to explore the inherent tension between stability and change, reflecting the powerful forces that sculpt both the coastlines and our inner worlds.
This piece is a collaboration with Holly Ryan who is in the process of creating custom jewellery pieces based off her time spent exploring and connecting with the pavement. As well as, Meredith Beardmore, whose layered flute, piano, and ocean sounds recorded on-site, create a sonic landscape that mimics the incoming and outgoing tide/time.
